In case you have a large video, audio or photo collection, like most computer users do, then you may have realized that it's really difficult to manage, organize and catalog all these large collections. You can use a notebook and a pen in this situation, but this solution proves to be inefficient on the long run, as it's really difficult to find a certain music album or movie in a crowded notebook.

A much better solution for cataloging your media collection is by using Disc Collection. This Windows application can keep track of all your media files and discs and allows you to quickly find a desired item. After the program has been installed and launched, you are asked whether you would like to import a sample database into the application. The sample database includes some music albums, videos and photos and it's meant to make you more familiar with the program's features and functionality.

In order to add a new item to the program's database, you can either insert the CD or DVD which contains your media items and have the program automatically detect all the files from the disc or you can just add the desired files and folders from your computer. You can have access to all these options by accessing the graphical toolbar available on the upper part of the interface.

When adding new items into the database, you just need to select the category where the item should be added and the program will do the rest. After you have added all the desired media items to the database, you can easily and quickly look for a certain one, by using the advanced search feature, which allows you to look for media files using several criteria. For example, you can have the program display only the photos which are larger than a certain resolution or file size.

Another useful feature is the possibility of creating full reports containing all the items added to the program's database, which can be saved as a HTML file.

It can automatically read the contents of optical discs and can add all the files to the database. Besides that, it allows you to look for files using various criteria. Furthermore, it can generate HTML reports using the data added to the database.

You cannot open or play the media items directly from the program's database. You can easily catalog and organize all your media files by using Disc Collection.
